OT: Vulcan!

That was yesterday. I believe he went straight from there to us in Herne Bay. He seemed a lot closer but we were on the ground and he was very low.

Not sure. I thought it was a gull at first but after close inspection it looks more like something being ejected from underneath. There is a ram air turbine (RAT) but I doubt it came from that as it wouldn't have been deployed.

It looked a little like a flare but that would be really unlikely.

Ah, OK, thanks. I was going to look at that earlier in the year as I really wanted to see it...until I found it was going to be just down the road. In fact I would have been able to see it (not so well) from my front window!

The words 'deeply' and 'jealous' come to mind!

I have to wait until 26 September at Church Fenton for my next fix!

We had an impromptu fly-past by The Red Arrows yesterday afternoon. According to their schedule, they must have been on their way home from Kent, which makes sense.

Wouldn't have been practical for us to visit here at different times/days, we lived 300 miles away. But you don't have to be there to sus out many "disturbances". Have a good explore of the area when you are there, for things like pubs and clubs (night, sports, working mens), churches with bells are bit obvious, maps will show schools and water courses. Be aware of culverted water courses, look at the topography, if there is a valley there is a water course in the bottom of it *somewhere*.

What is hard to pick up remotely or on a single visit is a neighbour three doors down who maintains his barely road legal sports motorbike early every Sunday morning before going of to try and kill 'emselves on it.

Neighbours come, neighbours go. If you're unlucky it's the good ones that go and the inconsiderate bastards that come ...

I hope my neighbours who are very good never find out that when their only serious prospective purchasers came around again for a closer look I deliberately welcomed them with an "ALLO " over the fence while wearing a disgusting undersized T shirt with some barely legal trousers and holding a can of Australian themed pisswater that someone with poor taste once brought around and then going on to angle grind some metal in the garden and burn some rubbish. The prospective purchasers were probably a fairly normal couple with fairly normal children but I couldn't help thinking that 3 youngsters around 9 to 12 will soon be teenagers which brings parties ,more cars and loud music for a possibly ten year period. The existing neighbours who dinkies fortunately changed their minds about moving and invested in a total interior renovation instead. Ironically they do have a Motorbike that shakes the ground but it is a pure toy and only used occasionally .

That is bad luck, but falls into the "life's a bitch" category whilst moving in next to an airport/race track/rock concert venue is lack of research.

Would be worth (possibly) staying near hand in a B&B for a week just to suss out whether that hill really does block the sound or is it just something else that will get in the way when you lug the shopping home.

Yes it would cost you a week of your holiday time and a small fortune for a week in a B&B but depending on how close it is you may well be able to "kick back" for most of that week. After all a new house is a HUGE investment

You can always hope he succeeds.

We visited our present house (we've lived here for 23 years) eight times. Only twice for formal "viewings", but I drove out and sat at the end of the drive at 8AM and 9PM, on Saturdays and so on. Mind you, this was possible because it was only a 45 minute drive away.

Our next move is likely to be 5 hours away, so I think we may have to adopt the B&B solution. We nearly found a house a few weeks ago and went and sat outside three times over a long weekend (much to the bafflement of the owner, I imagine!)

Bit late to the party, but it was the other way - Vulcan displayed at Eastbourne, then Headcorn and then went on to Herne bay.

I was following them on twitter (

) where you get a live(sih) update stream of their location.

Nipped out to spot them at my parents house near headcorn. A few pics here :-)
