OT: uneven cooking in microwaves

I wish they'd invent proper universally used names for those things. There's about 10 names for those. And 10 for those USB memory sticks.

A pair of microwaves, I've never seen that. Do you have a huge family or are you just mad on cooking?

Same here, except I got their 6 month old dishwasher for free! They too remodeled the kitchen and wanted integrated everything, and wanted all the old stuff gone fast as it was in the way. They didn't want to wait to try to sell it.

If it was a feeble amount, they wouldn't go to the bother and expense of stocking them. I know plenty folk who will buy the very best of everything. After all, if you're rich, what's £600 for something you'll use every day for the next decade?

Only ever seen a Hoover do that. It went through 4 door seals in its 10 year life. Never known any other make leak whatsoever, even a dribble.

Everyone I know uses "non fast coloureds" or "cottons" (same thing - 40C, full wash, fast spin). Although my Samsung allows me to argue with it. I select cottons and it gives a list of suggestions on a large screen. I can then change the number of rinses, the number of washes, the intensity of each, the spin length and speed, etc, etc, and as I change things, the new time for the wash is shown so I can hurry it up.

Dacia are £6K. Do Lada still do £4K?

Mind you, no electric windows, no AC, no auto gearbox, argh! At least everything has ABS now (by law I think) - that saves a lot of dents.

Some people won't buy a used house, they think it's disgusting to do so :-)

Anybody who sues someone for an action they did themselves is a f****ng idiot. And that especially includes the moron in America who spilt coffee on her pussy because she tried to balance an obviously hot drink in a stupid place while driving!

Of course it would still help, whatever the reason some bits are hotter than others, if you mix them up, you move the heat around.

I don't know if it was ever reduced, but she was a multimillion dollar idiot the first trial.

If you spend £600 on something like a microwave I'd guess you wouldn't stay rich for long.

etc, etc, and as I change things, the new time for the wash is shown so I can hurry it up.

I would never buy a Lada. They are/were dreadful. Do they still exist?

ABS isn't essential IMHO.

Difficult to achieve that.

Nonsense, they were good cars in their day. But they kept making them until 2012, way too long. If you want a 1960s car they're a great option. But certainly the world has moved on.

Of course it's not nonsense. You must be much more easily satisfied than me if you think they could be a "great option". They were crude rustbuckets.

Several years ago there was an international Police conferene held here.

At the weekend there was an event at the Metropolitan Police Force's Chigwell sports ground open to the public.

All the attending forces had diplays.

The Germans brought along a former East German police car - it was a Lada, and had the bonnet up. There was an accumulator, a small engine - and nothing else except fresh air!

It created quite a bit of attention.

In the 80s and 90s, I had a works colleague always bought a Lada (and had done for many years). They were adequately equipped and comfortable, and cost not much more than half the price of the equivalent 'other brands'. Although they were exceedingly reliable, he renewed them every two years, and always got a good trade-in price from his local dealer.

Rubbish. Just because myths arose around them doesn't mean you should take them at face value. It's a bit late to drive one now though, unless one is determined & willing to pay.

Have they gone bust? I wasn't aware of that. They (and Skodas and all the other eastern shit) are rubbish, but they work. And you pay less for them. It's like buying a no-name drill or a Dewalt. It depends if you want luxury and longevity and toughness.

Whereas a Fiat or anything else Italian costs more and breaks down at the sight of a large scary animal in its path. I had a Fiat Tipo. It melted the engine in 2 weeks. It just suddenly decided to stop circulating the coolant water, despite the tank being full, and the pump being fully operational. An air bubble I think it was.

There should always be a budget option. Which is why we now have Dacia.

Bullshit. £600 isn't much for someone who's reasonably well off. Why save a few hundred pounds and have a shit meal every day? Better to save the money on expensive things like overpriced cars.

On the subject of microwaves, how come they heat up crockery? If you place a pot bowl in the microwave with a small amount of food in it, often the bowl is way hotter than the food. The bowl can burn your hand, while the food is still tepid, so it's not conduction from the food.

It makes driving so much easier. It detects grit or slippy things you don't see on the road, and it reacts quicker than you can, and it can brake on each wheel independantly.

WTF? There are new housing estates going up all the time. There are 5 within 3 miles of me.

But those that are reasonably well off might not do stupid enough to spend £600 on a microwave.

Do yuo really think that a microwave can turn shit produce into something nice just because you sxtick it in a £600 machine than a sub £100 machine.

Yeah buy cheap crappy Fiat Tipos enjoy yourself.

Becasue they microwaves can heat up anything, it's just that some things heat up quicker and stay hotter for longer.

That just goe sto show how desperately new homes are needed.

They do, they like shiny objects in their kitchen with fancy widgets on them. A fridge with an ice dispenser etc.

It can't perform miracles, but the same food cooked in different microwaves can end up considerably different quality.

I ain't gonna spend half the cost of my house on a car which will lose most of its value in 5-10 years!

I thought they only excited water molecules?

People need to stop reproducing. What the f*ck is wrong with people having kids when there's 7 billion folk already crammed into this tiny planet?

And those microwaves come with a free conventional over and grill so they aren't really that expensive, they are mostly inbuilt too saving space. And those that do buy them tend to have families and friends they cook for regually.

Quite common now, downside is usally the size rather than the cost.

No it can't unless you cook it wrong, or to stupid to follow instructions.

Most new cars lose 30% of value or so as soon as you've bought them.

No, and even if they did there is water molecules in the air around the crockery. Something will absorbe the microwaves and get 'warm'

Just what the world needs more wankers like you rather than reproducers.

There you go then. £600 for a quality all in one that's reliable.

I find the opposite, most fridges and freezers don't have enough space inside. Same with cars, why on earth does anyone buy a saloon?

As has discussed in this thread at length, microwave energy patterns can be more even in the better ones. Plus there's the added benefit of automated cooking, where it works out how much cooking to do, by weight etc.

Exactly, which is why I always buy used.

100 times less water on the crockery than in the food, yet the crockery gets more heating.

I have not reproduced, even if I wanted to I would decline, as there simply isn't enough room in the world.

The majority of the population is made by chavs in council estates. Do you really want more of those?
