A couple of details about the IHD have eluded my searches:
What is the parasitic load of the IHD? I've read that the back-up battery doesn't last long but that could have a couple of causes.
Does it show the instantaneous power? Most of the other readings don't interest me, e.g. a period of reduced price, as my routine has certain requirements and I don't use a lot anyway.

Mine's about 3W
My IHD has no battery, if it reboots it has to wait several minutes to get the last 12 months summary date fro the meter
Instantaneous power refreshes every 5-10 seconds, gas usage eery 30 minutes.

Mine came with a 5V, 0.5A (2.5W) power supply but I don't know if the IHD actually takes 2.5W
I've read that the back-up battery
The backup battery in my IHD still indicates fully charged after 15 minutes after being disconnected from its external power supply.
My IHD shows "usage now" and it appears to be a 10 second update. This is electricity only as gas only reports every 30 minutes.
I also have an Octopus Mini from my supplier (Octopus) which also updates at 10 second intervals to my smart phone where I can see my consumption in near real time in graphical form on their App.
Bear in mind that fridge freezers will be randomly switching throughout the day and their average consumption would have to be measured over a long time span - possibly days.

Its a common whinge. "why should I pay to see what I am using". In reality this pales into insignificance compared to the cost of the phantom power.
The only figures I can find were for 2017 which come out at £420 per household but I am sure its much higher now...

Do you mean all those phone chargers left plugged into the mains and not actually charging anything or equipment left in standby.
The high figures often quoted for this power have been widely discredited.
Many modern appliances that remain on 24/365 these days must have a mode that uses less than 0.5W. However, the 0.5W may not be when an appliance is in standby and where it has some form of deep standby. It will be the deep standby mode that consumes <0.5W.

That's good - want to know what the fridge-freezer runs at (I have a watt meter but would need to do a lot of moving things to get it in). Then there's the boiler: wattage quiescent and running would be interesting.

The fridge freezer doesn't run continuously. It's thermostatically controlled with hysteresis temperatures. The energy consumption also depends on the difference of ambient and the temperature inside the cabinet. The overall consumption depends how full it is and how often the door is opened. For this your meter recording the usage over days or weeks would be more informative.

And if it’s a frost free freezer there will be periodic cycles of much higher consumption.

I'm not worried about consuption (Wh) as it will use what it needs; if it goes wrong, e.g. leaks a bit of gas, I'd know from the sound, too long running and condenser not up to temperature. (I used to do a lot of refrigeration work but only on semi and open units - hermetics are far more difficult. I'm just interested in power (W); same with the boiler, just out of interest. The cost doesn't bother me - unless it gets excessive!
