OT Internet Status

This morning, virginmedia cable service down. 3 mobile internet access - down. O2 mobile internet access down. EE mobile internet access down. (3 transmitter is not located at the same place of O2 & EE.)

I guess we are lucky to be able to try four different providers within a few minutes! :-)

Have since recovered service(s) but they seem very flaky. Sudden "No internet access", randomly, on one or other of these.

Mid-Buckinghamshire area.

Is this only us having problems?

Don't think so!

Have found 3 is something funny - didn't actually find out what, but they are fixing it. Virgin seems OK now but had a few iffy periods earlier.

A theory:

Pikeys pulling a length(s) of black stuff out of the ground that only contain glass, not copper. Length(s) of black stuff carrying major backbone links. Poor service whilst the automatics sort out routing around the problem, overloading other links, manual intervention required to to load balance and/or bring on extra/new capacity on those links.

is for the 24th. Though I'm not convinced that all BT outages appear there, it may only be BT Wholesale and 20CN.
