And just in case any of you were thinking of using the M27 over Christmas, you might want to think again if you weren't aware of it being closed between J9 and J11 both ways over Christmas and the New Year.
There's an impressive bit of civil engineering due to take place soon. From 24 December until 4 January the M27 will be having work done at junction 10 (A32 at Fareham) to put in a new underpass. Details here:
I'll be interested to see what they will be doing with the 24000m^3 of excavated material. Perhaps some of it will be used for the new slip roads being put in. It's going to take some pretty powerful hydraulic jacks to move that 8500 tonne underpass! The underpass has already been built as I passed it on the M27 a couple of days ago. It is big!
I hope that the contractor will be recording a time-motion video of the whole thing.
