Well it's a 14 plate but has 120000 miles less on the clock than the 10 plate one that has gone.

So the pros and cons from the first drive

  1. It has working a/c:-)
  2. It does not have cruise control:-(
  3. The drivers window opens:-)
  4. The windscreen is not covered with tiny shatter marks and have a big crack:-)
  5. The cat did not know I was back from work as it does not know the new vans noise [1]
  6. The radio works:-)
  7. It's got Bluetooth for the phone :-)
  8. Only one headlight works:-(
  9. A thalidomide could steer it [2]
  10. It's easier to wheelspin than the last one and goes it goes faster:-)
  11. It's a longer wheelbase so the neighbours better watch out:-(
  12. It's white :-(
  13. It has lot's of deadlocks :-)

[1] Give it a couple of weeks to work it out.

[2] Accelerate to turn right and brake to turn left - no need to use a steering wheel.

It's fancy features like that which make today's vehicles totally unsuitable for old blokes like me. I'll stick with my classics, thanks.

I take it that is a fault rather than a feature?

I had that on a car I bought for parts as an MOT failure. :-)

Its a classic feature of a FWD car in need of attention to brakes and steering geometry.

To be fair, adjusting the tracking may be all that's required to sort that. OTOH, could be the suspension bushes. Or something is bent.

Hopefully, the new van is NAF! (Not A Fiat.)

Perhaps, you could find an electrician to trace the fault?

Loaded, or unloaded?

Actually I noticed it without using the headlights. I just ran the menu on the dash to look for faults.

It's unloaded ATM.

It is a FIAT. Work have owned it for several years[1]. It's now the oldest van on the fleet so I get to drive it.

[1] Work owned it in 2015 as I remember it rolling down a car park and running backwards into another works van when someone (not me) forgot to put the handbrake on.

Its an acronym for "Fix It Again Today"

:-)

I think work are trying to tell you something when they give you the oldest van in their fleet....? :-))

An apprentice by any chance? :-))

Have you done something wrong? Like shagged the director's wife, or worse still, his daughter?

The last item is probably a feature. The headlight being out could be as a result of said feature during an impact.

I had a friend who had a Toyota van, and one hedlight would go out, but if you could just go over a road hoump at the correct angle and speed it came back on. Brian

I remember many moons ago a local Plumber bought a new van based on the old Austin Allegro. It seemed it was in the works being fixed more often than on the road. So just be grateful things have improved these days. The more I hear about driving, the more I'm glad my eyesight never let me learn to drive.
