Back when I regularly drove my parents Cortina mk5, the nearside headlamp kept going out. It would work for days and then just stop. Randomly it would then come back on.
I looked for loose connections and broken wires, but found nothing.
After some time, I found the problem - the filament had come loose from the support/power inside, but was pressing against it and working, but could randomly disconnect.
I usually do more miles per annum in my van than the combined mileage of all the other works vans.
Residual value on the vans is one possibility.
Plus you drive *everywhere* at 100mph so it doesn't matter when you knacker an old van out.
I don't think that figures in residual value, in the same way miles on the clock does.
Not in 30 or 20 MPH limits.
I'll nudge the 40s and 50s a bit.
Motorways and dual carriageways have no speed limits unless there is a speed camera.

I fixed most of it.
Suspension bushes and bent wishbone arms are not my job
