OT: Hospital parking charges removed?

Park up somewhere off site? But has been said elsewhere here, plenty inner city hospitals have no parking at all. Much the same as doctor's surgeries. Dentists. Etc.

I really can't understand why hospitals are singled out as the one NHS facility which must have parking - and free to boot.

That is because you live in a big city. Life is different elsewhere.

there are two shifts for the day theatre

one runs from 7:30-12:00 and the other 12:30-17:00 (everybody in a given shift is expected to arrive for the start time, but if you are last in you sit around waiting for 4 hours - AIH I was last in)

After the op you get discharged to the post op ward where you might spend up to 4 hour recovering from the anesthetic. This is staffed by a completely different set of staff to the ones that staff the theatre.

After my 12:30 arrival for my 17:00 op, I got discharged at 21:00,

well I'm sure that in an emergence an ambulance will take me too

but ambulances are not available to take patients to pre-booked elective surgery

Yes it will but ambulances arenlt just emergency only, they do shedualed trips for those that are too frail to travel to the hospital for whatever reason.

An ambulance took my mum for a eye test because she can't walk unaided.

But you need managment for maintaince to take place.

Exactly. Gloucester Royal is half way out from the centre, nevertheless parking is now in short supply in the vicinity. Frenchay is well out of the centre of Bristol, but last time I was there nurses were complaining that they often could not park on site, but sometimes had to park several hundred yards away in the local estates.

It's very similar to the way litter control, is being handed out to private componies.

What about people visiting someone in hospital?

Not allowed in that car park. But I think there were others.
