OT - Gridwatch and import/export

Just noticed that we are importing from the Netherlands and exporting to France.

This seems to make very little sense unless the interconnect market is so skewed that it is cheaper to go via the UK that directly Netherlands - France.

Or, possibly, there isn't enough interconnect capacity between Netherlands and France directly, so a dogleg through the UK increases the capacity?

Just seems strange.

Cheers

I noticed that, but its not uncommon.

There is less monolithicity in the European grid than you might think - most German power goes via belgium to France. and the inter country links are not massive.

People do not realise that the grid is only there to balance - mostly power is generated where its needed.

It was not designed for, nor is it suitable for, massive continent wide power transfers.
