OT(ish) - why has biomass generation suddenly backed off?

For a long time the biomass generation has been running flat out. However at the moment it is wound right back.



I have read that: (1) Wholesale gas prices are very low at the moment because we are importing a load of LNG and pumping it flat out to Europe. (2) We are exporting electricity to Europe due to their Russian gas problems (although I'm not sure Gridwatch is showing that at the moment).



So is biomass more expensive compared to other generating means due to market fluctuation in prices?



Or is something else going on?

Something else. Wind mainly. Right now we are not exporting that much as Europe has enough wind and solar. Only Holland (NEMO link) seems short - they are very gas oriented.

And this time of year electricity demand is pretty low everywhere.

Why biomass is off totally at Drax I cannot say. Nuclear is good though.

They may be converting their last coal boilers to biomass.
