OT Contacting some serivce companies

I recently attempted to send a parcel via DPD to Durham. I booked and paid forit on-line, and had an e-mail of confirmation along with DPD parcel labels.Briefly the attempt failed and DPD never showed up. Which was veryfrustrating. What was even more frustrating were my attempts to contact DVD.Using their help line was a nightmare. I managed to navigagte its intricacieson four occasions. And four times I was transferred to my local DPD Depot who,I was informed by a robotic voice, "they will be able to help you". And fourtimes I was cut off.I spent a lot of time looking on line for a telephone number so I couldcontact DPD. Without success.It was a frustrating and extremely annoying experience. And took many hours.So my question is this. Do DPD, amongst other companies actually go to greatlengths to ensure that customers can't contact them? You ring up to send aparcel and you get right through. You ring up to complain about appallingservice and you're left "sucking on hind tit", as a Drill Instructor of myacquaintance once observed.Are all or most firms as bad as this? How did it come to this? I remember whenI was working as a Farm Machinery Rep we took complaints very seriously, andno customer ever had problems contacting us.It's all become very sad.PeteFJ
