Been an Amazon customer over 10 years and NEVER had a single problem with them or their website. The only folks I've ever heard complain about Amazon are competitors.

Just try it. Search for something, just type in a keyword into the search box. Now click sort by price. Oh you can't, the option DOES NOT EXIST.

It's a deliberate design decision. I don't like it either but it's how they chose to make it. It has lost them a fair few sales to ebay & other places .

Why would they deliberately remove this function? The only possible reason I can think of is to lower the server load, but it can't make much difference.
I've given them another earful, maybe I'll get an English speaking representative (doubtful) who can understand me this time. Why do companies think employing Indians is going to get anything achieved?

If I can't see what I want, then I won't buy at all, and they 100% lose out.
That's the other thing I hate about Amazon, I can't tell who's selling me the stuff! Is it a private individual? A business? Amazon?
And if you look at the feedback of some sellers, there are some that have about 90% bad feedback and 10% good, yet their accounts are still running. Ebay would have long since closed them.
I tried to sell something on Amazon once, it took me an hour to find their selling fees, which worked out THREE TIMES more than Ebay. I don't know why people sell on there at all.
If you use live chat on Ebay, you can often get somewhere. Mind you, I don't think I've ever had a problem with Ebay itself, only with sellers, and Ebay are happy to help with that.
The only thing Ebay has ever done to annoy me is the recent purchase history change. The whole page is now a mess, you can't see the order dates, you can only see a small selection of what you've bought at once, etc, and everything has become huge and fluffy with less information. The old one worked fine, why change it?
You do realize eBay was started by an Iranian, don't you? I wonder why Britain doesn't have more telephone support centers to provide employment to those on the dole? Perhaps they're too stupid to answer the phone or the Indians speak a more understandable form of English. Hell would be a help center staffed by Yorkies.
I've had good luck with Amazon. I received some Photon Microlights that were obvious Chinese ripoffs. I reported them, got a refund, and the seller was gone the next time I looked. Of course, they pop up like mushrooms.
I'd done some research on that. I'd like to thin my library of physical books but all the reports I read indicated selling through Amazon barely broke even. I have bought used books through Amazon that were out of print titles I couldn't otherwise get so somebody must have found a way to profit.
I don't report people on Ebay unless they don't do what I ask. If I get substandard devices, I complain to the seller, who usually panics and gives me all my money back and I get to keep the item. For example LiIon batteries from China are about 20% of the rated capacity (the first thing I do when getting a battery is fully charge and discharge it using a meter). Mind you, Samsung batteries are only 80%. The only LiIons I've found that do what they say on the case are Panasonic.
Ebay is easier and more profitable (lower fees) to sell on. And in the UK at least, there's a wider selection of stuff, so it's where everybody goes.
Having said that I doubt you'll get much for books, the market's flooded. You can get most books for 50p at a car boot sale (or 50c at a garage sale over the pond), so selling them online with postage charges will get you nowhere. Perhaps if you sold boxes of 10 related books?
There's a local exchange that gives 25% of the cover price that you can use as credits to buy more books but they're a little sniffy about what they will accept. The library will take them for their book sale rack but they're whining about not having enough space for the books they buy.
I wouldn't mind if they were just popular fiction but most of what I have are academic books that would be of interest to the right people. I don't care about making money on them just don't want to see them go to waste.
On a related note I recently read that it's damn near impossible to give away traditional pianos anymore. There are services that specialize in taking them away but you pay them to make Mom's baby grand disappear.
When I studied at University, the local book shop had a 2nd hand system.= You could buy a new book (provided it was currently in use by the Univ= ersity) for say =A320, or a second hand one for =A315, then sell them it= back for =A310. It was a bit more complicated than that, as they had = a subjective quality test to see how much your book was worth, so if it = came back after the year with a lot of damage, you lost more money.

Ah they've fixed it! So Mr Mohammed did indeed report it to the technical department. When I last looked, the drop down on the top right did not exist until I'd selected a category.
Piano? Is that something like an electric keyboard? In the decades before television and the internet, many homes had a piano. It was a form of entertainment.
My only regret in life is not learning to play when I was a kid. I don't need a Fazioli or Steinway, just be able to bang the keys enough to entertain myself. Tried some years ago but did not do so good.
I lack the coordination to pay piano. And I have short pinkies.
iirc the college bookstore had a similar plan. It was rather a racket where a professor would produce a book that was then required for his course. Back in the '60s that meant you were dropping $100 for the books per semester and that's when a McDonald's burger went for 19 cents.
I think Amazon has some sort of textbook rental scheme now.
We had an upright that I never did anything with. A church was going out of business and a minister I knew went over to load up some of the odds and ends. I saw an old piano and he said if I wanted it there was room in the U-Haul. We got to my place and two guys pushed it off the end of the truck. I was standing there alone holding it up but I'd be damned if I'd drop it.
There are some in town here and there on the sidewalk for people to noodle around with but I've never tried. Most of the stuff where I know the written music is for the Irish flute and is in G or D so I'd have to figure out which of the black keys are F# and C#.
