OT: All Brits together?

Jul 19, 2018 20 Replies

Brexit is a means of stripping protection and rights from people.

Zero hours contracts are very tightly regulated in the EU

In Britain they are becoming the norm and even these jobs are too tightly regulated for millionaire tax dodgers like Mogg & Co

It would be interesting to see how the people of this "nation" justify such things.

I never ever considered myself a socialist, but if people are wielding power that treats people like thisl, they need to be provided with a few pointers on social justice.

The scumbags with millions are trying to remove even the meager rights the likes of Mr Rogers "enjoyed".

One does tend to wonder what kind of entity puts the likes Mr Rogers through the torment he must have suffered. It is just one more thing that makes me feel that the UK is a pariah, a leech, sucking the blood of those that have damn all to give.

The Brexiter, a thick, stupid entity, but right. Britain has no place in Europe and not much place anywhere else thats civilised either.

No they're not.

If they are, it's down to the nature of the labour market stacked in the favour of employers, cause by wide-scale immigration.

Ironically this is the major cause of Brexit, but you're too myopic to see that.

Really, Brexiteers have understated the problem. There are simply too many people in the world.

What we need is a good, old-fashioned plague that kills say 80% of the World's population. That will nicely rebalance the economy between capital and labour. Why they didn't put an option for that on the ballot papers, I have no idea. "Porton Down to release plague". Everybody would have voted for that.

Have you only just realised this? Blimey. Brian

I can see the T-shirts now, simialar to Free Nelson Mandela ones.

And everyone loves a lottery. You might be one of the 20% who survive. IT COULD BE YOU.

I came across this the other day a friend was saying we have more rights un der the EU warrenties, he had a faulty computer and wanted to send it back but under EU law you get 2 years which he said was longer than the one year Apple give, but in fact under UK law it is 6 years so the EU has effective ly reduced warrenties.

But because of UK law NOT EU law Apple had to replace the faulty part as it was known to be faulty after the purchase so it got replaced free of charg e.

Now whether or not Apple would have done this if in another EU country I do n't know, but it does seems little odd that Apple repaired his 4 year old l aptop without charge.

Of course there's those that won't believe this so here's the warrenty info .

which means little.

That was more down to bailiffs/coursts being able to charge massive amounts for their services. That's how the total grew.

Justify what things ?

That tends to be the nature of business.

They were to busy counting their saleries to notice.

and those that have the money perfer to employ johnny foreinger because he will work cheaper and harder because he has yet to be given the rights. Why elese to we import car cleaners for £1.50 an hour ?

Warranty is with the manufacturer the sale of goods is with the retailer. The sale of goods act is where the six years comes from.

The EU have not reduced warranty period at all, they have specified a minimum.

The EU regulation gives you a two year warranty. The UK Sale of Goods Act gives you six years in which to claim but that is not the same as a six year warranty.

Your article adds:

"After six m "the EU [two year warranty] rule does not require the buyer to show the fault is inherent in the product and not down to their actions."

The problem is it is too indiscriminate.

War is so much better. All the stupid people get killed

That contains several errors.

The EU caused this confusion by using (in the English text) the term "guarantee" in a different way from what most people do.

Try for a start:

Then look at the EU's official site:

"The legal guarantee is valid for a period of two years throughout the EU. But there are certain conditions.

The legal guarantee covers any defects presumed to have existed at the time of delivery and which become apparent within a period of two years. However, the crucial time period here is the six months following purchase:

Any fault that appears within six months will be presumed to have existed at the time of delivery. The seller must then repair or replace your phone free of charge - or reimburse you if repairs or replacement are impossible.

After six months, you can still hold the seller responsible for any defects during the full two-year guarantee period. However, if the seller contests this, you must be able to prove that the defect existed at the time of delivery. This is often difficult, and you will probably have to involve a technical expert."

In England you could replace "two" by "six" (and in Scotland by "five"). But I don't see many people celebrating "our" superior 6 or 5 year guarantees on everything from angle grinders to zaxes.

So is Apple the retailer ?

This is the sort of thing my friend was asking if he buys on-line is that differnt from going into an Apple store as far a warrenties go, I'd have thought they'd be the same. I'd prefer the UK 6 year warrently to the minium 2 year EU one.

And what use is that minimum when the product is faulty when purchased ?

2 years isn't enough.

nty-EU-law.html

Become apparent to who ?

What about those after 6 months ?

Which is what happened after the product was 4 years old.

what about after that 2 years ?

So you'd have more rights in England than scotalnd then is that the case ?

My mate did on a £2k laptop which he is still using after the repair, he's looking into the latest one now as the previous one lasted 5+ years.

Why didn't the EU set a 2 year rather than a 6 year or 5 year like scotland . ?

Maybe, if not then they don't have to fix it after four years.

You might not.. they can ask you for a contribution. If its five years old they can reasonably ask you to pay about 80% of the cost of a fix.

If its faulty when you purchased it then take it back.

Of course I was aware of the driving force behind a lot of the Conservative leavers, it's just that it does bring it home what damage they are prepared to do to hardworking individuals and their families in order to drive forward a broken dogma.

It truly is a disgrace that we have people taking away millions while others in the country are working flat out for peanuts.

I wonder why the tossers never pushed it during the campaign, informing their Mail reading ghouls that the EU was on the warpath for zero hours contracts and soon to start on tax dogers, would surely generate a bit more support :-)

AB

That?s not really true anymore with firestorm bombing and nukes, they are just as indiscriminate as the plague.

Its only true of the older warfare like trench warfare.

Yes they are. There are no zero hours contracts in the EU. There has to be a guaranteed number of hours available.

The nature of the labour market is not allowed to take control with a resposible government i.e the rest of the EU. The stupid idea that the market will lead the way is a sick route to pain and suffering for large numbers of the population.

All it takes is a government that will simply ensure that workers are paid a minimum wage and employers restrict the number of hours of casual work available.

Jobs will go, but there again the NHS will have more taxpayers to contribute.

The cause of Brexit was thick stupid bigots with some kind of idea that Britain was still in the business of empire building. It was nothing to do with zero hours contracts.

AB

Or is that 6 years. And does it matter if you order it online or go to the store wot buy it, or you buy it from say PCworld, or say John Lewis who claim to give you an ex tra years warrenty so 2 years how does that work ? Because a friend brought a laptop from JL got a 2 year warrenty rather tha n Apples one year and it was £100 cheaper than the Apple store.

Then that's down to the retailer or the company, and Appe didn't charge any thing for the replacement so I;d rather habve that option.

The key thing here is when you realise it's faulty, I'd hate to be just giv en 2 or 6 months to find out. Maybe this is what happened to VWs when the immisions were found to be faul ty or not as specified in the USA buyers got compentation in the EU they di dn't or haven't so far.

Indeed.

What better slogan for your banner on Remembrance Day.
