I need to generate floppy disks to communicate with a legacy system. So I have a USB floppy drive - works fine. I can read and write files under Windows Explorer but I can't format new floppies - the Format facility reports that the floppy is write protected (which it isn't )
HOWEVER, if I pop off to the command prompt and format the floppy it works fine - very odd.
So I have a solution but would like to know WHY Win7 Pro 32 bit won't format floppy discs despite having the facility built in - very odd !
