Cleaning lady dumped her dead *Hetty* floor cleaner in hopes of a repair and I thought the team might be interested....
Moulded on plug and no power reaching the motor. Wind up cable and a user likely to *tug* to check full extension didn't really require much investigation.
Access is by 4 deeply recessed Allen head self tappers and then a further 3 cross heads to reach the cable winder. Adequate cable retention is by trapping in a tortuous groove. Final connection is by 2 pairs of sprung contacts making to a pair of greased slip rings.
Shortening and re-making off the cable fixed the fault. There is potential for a mechanical issue in that the cable winder is supported by 3 plastic rollers running in slots. These were well worn and I guess her next problem is going to be a very stiff cable winder.
They look to be just the sort of thing spaced Tim could knock up with his 3D printer:-)
