Yes, it is because it's quite a bit cheaper and can't be seen.

Yes, the problem was smaller than I thought as leaving it proper up overnight had a semi-permanent improvement. So I'm leaving it slightly supported and will screw a skin of ply on when the insulation arrives

On the ply reinforcement, I think it needs to include the main horizontal member that goes across at the top of the walls above the door but I see that has been lap jointed to the rafters so the bits you are looking to link are not all in the same plane.
Do you have a plan to cover that? The only one I could think of was to put another piece of ply on the outside of the horizontal member and then lap joint that into your main triangular ply sheet but the bother would be fixing the first piece to the horiz with the weather boarding in place as it would need to be screwed from the outside.
That's bigger than my flat!
The lap joint is between the 'wall plates' so all the bits I need to join are (luckily) in the same plane.
