Mini tubes of wood glue?

My little plastic bottle of EvoStik wood glue only gets an outing every 6 months and each time the nozzle needs carefully cleaning out or it dries out.

Is it possible to get mini tubes of PVA wood glue, so I can throw one away after use?

Like those 10 packs of small tubes superglue in the pound shop.

Mix as needed. Not sure about the shelf life though, being powder it is probably infinite if kept cool & dry

ISTR about 1-2 yewars. Quick Google confirms this, although if it's never been opened, it will probably keep a lot longer.

I like using this stuff.

Just buy one of the small bottles of titebond - the cap closes in a way that means it does not clog.

I had this problem. I screwed a woodscrew into the nozzle, then stored the bottle upside down. Complete answer.

  • 1 though I like to remove the cap and rinse through with water followed by covering the spout with a small bit of cling film before screwing the cap back on. Its called belt and braces :-)

What you need is the sort of size that the flatpack people often put in to their packs. They are often too small for the job in hand! Brian

No, that didn't happen. If it had I would have used a nylon one.

I do the same except I use aluminiun foil instead of cling film. Nevertheless the glue in the nozzle will still start to dry out in my 50 ml Evo-Stik bottle.

I also wash the nozzle but need a cotton bud to clean it out and it's inconvenient if all I want to do is secure a shelf in my sideboard with one squirt.

I use it rarely and if I'm careless with cleaning and sealing the bottle, I have to throw it away next time I go to it.

Upside down sounds good. I think the air in my partly-used bottle was drying out the nozzle but upside down should help.

Golf tees are quite good - and they're plastic, so they don't rust.

when I played golf, in the 1950s, golf tees were made of wood.

I just let the cap dry and when a small amount is required I take off the cap, usually having to use some water pliers or similar, and just dip a brush, rolled up paper, lolly stick etc. into the main container to get some glue.

Hmm. Water based glue plus steel screw and it never rusted ?

Aren't there rustproof steel screws?

I had a plastic 'bottle' of the blue external evostik for years before it became too thick and gooey to use. As Pamela says, you have to remember to unscrew and rinse out the quick-release nozzle after use.

Well no, it didn't.
