Linseed

The 50 or so acres opposite us is growing linseed, a pretty sight at this time of year. Every morning, it's a sea of blue flowers, which die by early afternoon, leaving a green field. Next day they're back again as each plant has several stems with several flowers on each. Apparently this can go on for several weeks.

Yes, despite growing up in Northern Ireland, then one of the largest linen suppliers, I never saw Flax growing until I saw a field of it in England and asked a passer by what it was.

I saw another field of it recently close to where I live. Apparantly there we grants for growing it. It didn't have to be harvested
