LED lighting install issues

Hi everyone,

I'm currently having new lighting fitted in my flat: LED downlights and so me LED linears.

I purchased the downlights directly from the supplier - John Cullen. I'm h aving a few problems with the downlights. The downlights are mostly these models:

The electrician has installed all the LED downlights and put all the cablin g in. The plasterer has been in to seal all the damaged walls and the elec trician is coming back in to finish the job and put up the last few linears next week.

I've noticed a few issues and would like any advice you might have:

1) One of the LED downlights was flickering on one particular day. It only flickered when the dimmer was at max. It hasn't flickered since then. I mentioned this to the electrician before the last time he came in - he left it on all day and the issue did not occur again. Is the light likely to b low? Should I get it replaced? Likely to be the driver or LED? Video of the issue here:

2) I've noticed that when I turn on the lights in my kitchen (kitchen light s not being changed, remaining old halogen downlights), the new lights in t he living room momentarily turn off for perhaps a half second. Any idea wh y might this be happening? It does not happen every time, we've noticed it perhaps six or seven times over the past couple of weeks.

3) When I turn on my hall lighting, sometimes the light will come on, then flicker, then turn off, then turn on again. Sometimes taking up to five se conds before coming on fully. Again, any advice? Video of the issue here:

The lights in the hall have a dimmer and a switch, the issue occurs from bo th ends.

What's the best way to deal with sporadic issues like this if the electrici an can't reproduce them when he's there?

Well all you can do is try to eliminate possibilities by substitution. ie move a light fitting and see if the fault moves with it or remains. Or temporarily fit a conventional light and see if the flicker disappars.. If it does the fault is in the light, ifnot the fault is in the wiring/switch/dimmer.

Proper 0-10V dimmer and LED drivers installed, as the supplier site indicates?

What's all the flickering of the light in the room beyond the hall in your second video about?

Remove the dimmer and substitute with a normal switch. See what happens then.
