I've just noticed a small hole in the seat pad of the passenger seat of my car. Is there a DIY method of repair, or is it a job for a specialist?
I'm not too bothered about invisible - just don't want it to get worse, and it's close to a seam:
I keep getting leather repair jobs to do at the local repair cafe. no time to flaff about with sewing. Unlike plastic faux leather , leather can take heat , so I use hot melt glue instead of sewing , perforating any patch/unseen leather for glue migration through, and so strength. I'd feather/skive the under edge of the hole as much as possible, with dremmell and cintride bit. Patch of leather , colour matched with felt tip pens. Premelt glue to edge of patch. With thin pliers pull the seat cover up to add glue layer to the underside edge of the hole. When all cold, fold the patch to place centrally in the hole. Hot air gun, heat the area and push down with some silicone rubber. Remove any excess that squeeges through, with pliers/scalpel.
