Landlord&Tenant

Done a google search and came across the answer on 3 or 4 sites including a gov alas it was a very vague answer,so...

Thought someone on here might know?

I require a private landlords name and address and by law the landlord is deemed to issue his name and full address for the tenant who's occupying one of his houses, now then it states on those sites that the tenant can aquire the landlords address if asked for it however does this right also apply if the landlord has a go-between ie estate agent/landlords agent? I think it does but as I say the answer is vague.

much appreciated and apologies if it might be off topic.

's_address.htmSome landlords prefer to deal through agents and remain anonymous as far as their tenants are concerned. However, under the provisions of the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, tenants of dwellings in England & Wales, who make a written request to an agent, have a right to the landlord's name and address.

Thanks for that.

Now then Authorities? does this rule out the LL's agent? or do they have the authority to refuse forwarding the LL address?

If so this below would contradict the above statement you posted?

It is common for authorities to refuse to give out addresses because of the Data Protection Act 1988 restrictions. However, Section 35 of the Act makes an exception to this where the information is needed in relation to legal proceedings. "Personal data are exempt from the non-disclosure provisions where the disclosure is required by or under any enactment, by any rule of law or by the order of a court."

Hang on - AFAIK the provisions of the Act are for the tenant to obtain an address where notices can b e served on the landlord, and that may include the address of his agent. In fact this is stated in the link to LandlordZone which you posted!

One fairly reliable way of obtaining the landlord's residential address is to obtain the online Land Registry record for a tenanted property... not foolproof, but at a quid or whatever, it's worth a go.

(BTW the above site has a very good forum where this question could be asked).
