JG Speedfit to BSP - what options are there? FAQ

I need to make several JG Speedfit connections to 1/2" BSP male. This looks like what I need:-

... but will this go onto the sort of male connector where one would normally use PTFE tape? I.e. it's not like a tap where one would probably use a rubber washer of some sort to make the seal. The above looks like it's expecting to have a washer inside it. Am I in the land of taper BSP as opposed to parallel BSP?

Am I confused or is there a somewhat different type of fitting that I need?

Thae tap connector will have parallel threads and will have a fibre washer inside to seal against the *end* of the tap/toilet valve thread -

*not* on the threads.

You didn't say whether the 1/2" male to which you're connecting has a parallel or taper thread - but it probably doesn't matter provided it has a decent flat end. [File it flat if necessary].

OR, you could use one of these (which *will* need PTFE thread) plus a Speedfit 15 to 15 straight connector.

Sorry - Here's the link!

It does have a washer inside it. I fitted one this morning on the inlet to a WC cistern. I am now flushed with success for the first time in days.
