Esther Rantzen was on the radio today dispensing fear. She and her daughter are going to self isolate for the whole duration and have everything delivered presumably from Harrods or Fortnum & Mason because she has little chance from elsewhere.

I'm sure I heard her say that children couldn't catch the Coronavirus !!!

The Greta Thunberg campaign revenge for those who have destroyed the planet.

Indeed the fear that not only is she guaranteed to survive but that she's going to spend the next two years lecturing everybody on how clever she was.

To say nothing of live streaming her "isolation diary" direct from her bunker cum drawing room somewhere in the Cotswolds perhaps, along with the book deal.

Its almost enough to make you go around touching stuff on purpose.

Don't post this while I'm eating. I'm assuming this is humour. Brian

We have done no such thing. The levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have remained stable at just under 400ppm for the last 110 years _at least_. And that is despite all the pollution of all sources spewed out during the most industrial century in human history _and_ the partial destruction of the rain forests. But if you just go to Wikipedia and other dubious online sources to research this subject you'll never find out the truth.

It's actually increased over the last century from 300 ppm to 400 ppm, ie by 33%.

That's why I went here instead for the above figures:

Don?t say things like that, you?ll upset the snowflakes.

;-)

I?m sure that will comfort the parents of the baby born with it, not to mention the numerous school pupils who have tested positive.

It is time those on the media and Internet who are trying to stir up panic were locked up, preferably with a carrier.

Reliable medical advice is that young children don't experience severe or life-threatening symptoms and may have no symptoms at all, but are nevertheless able to infect other people.

That advice may change if contrary information becomes available.

Mmmm no. Levels are increasing. But the levels have been considerably higher in the past, at times more then ten times higher than today.

I know people on facebook who have good intentions and are urging people to be sensible, consider those vulnerable in society and not to panic buy. BUT... they keep posting photos of empty shelves in local shops, shops in Austrailia, Spain, Italy etc. and then say that people have to visit many shops just to get a few essentials. For me this just fuels the panic buying rush and confirms that shops are empty of essential supplies so you must grab anything you can find.

Mmmmm no they're not, Tim. I've assembled a formidable assortment of physical hard copy, mainstream, peer-reviewed articles over the period from 1910 to 2009 which despite the fact they come from different sources both in europe and the US over a period of more than a century, all agree CO2 levels have *not* increased AT ALL over that period. I was going to go to the trouble of scanning them all and putting them online, but given the mentality of some of the people who frequent this group, there's really no point. They're not interested in evidence; only their own warped misconceptions.

Well, which should I prefer? An anonymous person on Usenet calling himself Cursitor Doom, or NASA?

"levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere are higher than they have been at any time in the past 400,000 years. During ice ages, CO2 levels were around 200 parts per million (ppm), and during the warmer interglacial periods, they hovered around 280 ppm (see fluctuations in the graph). In 2013, CO2 levels surpassed 400 ppm for the first time in recorded history. This recent relentless rise in CO2 shows a remarkably constant relationship with fossil-fuel burning, and can be well accounted for based on the simple premise that about 60 percent of fossil-fuel emissions stay in the air."

Still, there are a few people who make money out of climate change denial by selective use of data.

CO2 is plant food. And we have more plant cover now than we used to.

So which should I prefer - an anonymous blowhard on Usenet calling himself Martin James Smith, or the organization that put men on the moon? Difficult choice.

A very difficult choice since the one is funded by a political organisation which has a vested interest on only telling you what it wants you to hear and the other is a random person with an axe to grind.

There you go mentioning ?panic? again, Brian. You seem to be focusing on ?panic? a *lot*, almost as if you?re actually ?panicking?.

It?ll be ok, Brian, don?t worry, there?s nothing to panic about; just don?t go outdoors or allow anybody to come in your house ever again and you?ll not catch Boomer Plague.
