I've found a hairdryer I promised to fix a while ago. It has no fuse in the plug and no fuse rating indicated on the plug body. I cleaned out the dryer body and popped a 13 amp fuse in the plug and it works, albeit rather noisily.
It's rated at 2000 W - is a 13 amp OK to use or should I put a lower rated fuse in?
13A is fine. It's going to take at least 8 amps, so 3A or 5A wouldn't do. You *could* use a 10A fuse but they are relatively uncommon.

Divide the power by the voltage to get the current; 2000/230 = 8.7A, then pick the next standard sized fuse larger than that. So in this case
