Grauniad: Commentary on whether EdF should pull the plug on HPC

An interesting read. Mainly looks at EdF's finances and how much of a risk taking on HPC would be.

The article states that the finance director of EdF resigned because he wanted to delay committing to HPC until their reactor at Flamanville is finished and they are able to audit it and come up with a final cost. A sensible move, but the board appears not to have agreed.

Maybe there is an agreement from UK Government to underwrite any losses until its built and running at a profit. I mean if the UK are so sure its a winner, why not? Brian

If gov.uk thinks it such a sure-fire winner, why isn't a co.uk building it?

Because (entirely sensibly) they don't trust the Government further than they could spit a rat.
