Dry sliding surfaces inside locks so always graphite powder, in a little puffer bottle in locksmith shops. I've some perhaps 20 years old, still used occassionally

For pin cylinders PTFE type spray such as GT85, silicone too greasy, graphite to be avoided as if anyone in the future uses a spray lube then it will turn solid.
For a lever lock I'd dismantle it and re grease it.

Much conflicting advice!
My main use will be for padlocks exposed to harsh environmental conditions.
The Kryptonite U Lock for the bike, which is carried on a bracket on the seat tube.
The Burg Wachter padlocks which will be locked to the tow bar to secure the bicycles(s) in transit, and on site when used with Motor Home.
So anything that is not suitable for wet outside use would be a problem. There are suggestions that dry graphite powder may clump up if wet or if other lubricants are used.
I currently have Powerfix PTFE spray and GT85, both of which might be contenders.

I've got a chunky padlock that's quite exposed, and the occasional squirt of GT85 has kept it free.
While on locksmithy stuff. For Yale type pawls, has the steepness of the curve lessened in recent decades. There seems to be lot of routine very loud front door banging to close them,these days. A response to too many TV portrayals of slipping them by sliding a credit card over them rather than grinding a slight slot across the older and steeper curved face to snag any such attempt.

Nope, they attract dirt and dust which is the last thing you need and go sticky with age. Graphite doesnt do either.

Hopeless because it attracts dirt and dust and goes sticky with age and a spray is much worst for application than the little squeeze bottle of graphite that lasts forever
I find that, over time, the curved part attracts dirst, which means it doesn't slide over the fixed part smoothly (I'm not referring to the sideways movement, just the curved part).
I regularly clean that with Dura-Glit, and when finished leave afilm of it on there.
Ok only a sample of 2. 2 new doors to different properties, the original ones no excessive force/banging required, but the 2 new ones loud door-jam/house-shaking bangs seemingly required. If they were mine I'd just wipe some soap on the pawls every now and then, but no knowledge if that helps.
