As far as I know the 3rd year of paid extended support for Win7 ended in January, the only version that is in any way supported now is Windows7 Embedded Edition, and that dies in October.
Ok. Andy. I'm inclined to stick with it until something dramatic happens. I do keep regular backups and hope to be able to restore the system if something nasty arrives.
FWLIW Win 98 security updates were available many years after MS stopped supporting it. They were 3rd party. If you ran 98, security was hardly its priority, but the updates did improve it a good bit.
