Had a new gas oven fitted in Jan. In order to accommodate it, we had a recommended (by the MiL) gas fitter put a bayonet fitting on the existing pipework which feeds the hob. He then fitted the new oven.
Fast forward to now, and with various problems (see post passim) the manufacturers decide to replace the oven. New oven delivered on Friday, and their service engineer turns up to fit it. He removes old oven, and then says he can't fit the new one as the gas point is not up to regs.
The gas point is about 10 cm to the left of the oven housing, and passes through the MDF of the fitted cabinet. His statement was both points are against current regs, and therefore he can't fit the new oven - although interestingly, he can happily leave the old one in place.
Personally, if it wasn't for the fact the oven needs to be fitted by the manufacturer, I'd have plugged it in myself.
Is the manufacturers engineer correct ?
