Gas Oven Thermostat

Nov 08, 2004 2 Replies

Do Gas oven thermostats "drift" over a period of time? We have a combination two oven cooker - my missus swears that the top oven gets too hot (cf Gas Mark setting) and bottom oven doesn't get hot enough.

Is there any adjustment that can be made on thermostat?

Alternatively anyone recommend a digital readout thermometer with a probe which could be permanently installed (one per oven) - (thermometers to be wall mounted behind oven if poss).

First of all,

check that the appliance is fitted perfectly level and that there is the specified clearance to sides and rear

check that any removable oven roof/lining is in its correct position

check that the stat proble in the oven is in its correct position,i.e located on/in its mount/clips...

Yes. Older units may have adjustment. Newer ones probably not. See the other reply aswell all of which is worth checking.
