Sorry if off topic, but it's about power tools. Specifically garden shredder.
Twice and sometimes 3 times a year depending on weather/how organised I am, I cut our privet hedge which borders the front and front side of the house. Then I usually end up doing 2 trips to the tip to get rid, which has always been annoying but is a problem now the council have introduced a booking system which precludes same day revisits. Sometimes I cut the hedge in stages anyway but then I store the cuttings as I can't always book on the day.
I've been thinking about getting a shredder for a few years as I suspect when diced it will fit in the bags better and I might get away with one trip. It might also compost if I leave it a while, or I can use it under the hedge as mulch etc. The main thing holding me back is cost and The 'best buy' ones tend to be drum based so I'm not sure how those deal with the green whippy type of growth my privet produces.
We may have other trees in future but for now that's the main use.
Any experiences with shredders of either this type or the other kind on this type of material? I'll probably buy 2nd hand so won't necessarily have the choice of model but if you recommend a particular one (or not!) I can take it into account.
Thanks in advance!
