France mains sockets

I had too (but not the gas). I remember there was a multi-socket plug with the various pins inside. You shook them out then twisted the relevant pins into place. It could deal with 15 amp round pin, 5 amp round pin and 13 amp flat pins.

Back in the late 60s my parents moved into a house that was plumbed for gas lights (and many of the old fittings were still in place) with an acetylene gas generator in an outhouse (as there was no mains gas). There were also a couple of old Lechlanché cells for powering the maid/servant call system.
