Prolly not the best time to scribe re such matters finishing up the bottled leftovers of the winter solstice;-)..
But it is an example of one drug being useful for something other than what it was originally intended for like perhaps Viagra, was supposed to be a treatment for hypertension but had other uses;!..
Well all drugs have side effects but as a hypertension treatment its been fine for me, augmented by a small additions of a angiotensin-II receptor antagonist, Valsarten, works very well:)..
Sometimes you have to potter around with various combinations before hitting on the right one, or better still combinations, and that can take some time..
For instance the Amlodpine works in the arteries and the Valsarten does better for the return vein flow....
But the side effects of hypertension for me were blinding headaches which went on for years before a doctor who Knew what they were doing checked the blood pressure the idiot previous never did that:(..
Morale of that tale .. some docs are more competent than others;!..
