Same here actually - it's a 240V unit. I don't think ring circuits ever exist over here; it's always radial from the panel (but you're right in that it is the only thing on that circuit, although it does pass via a
240V plug/socket, so I have been known to unplug the heater and use the supply for other things)cheers

There, perhaps... I think that the supply that the heater is plugged in to is metered at 9 cents/kwh, so $3.60, which is probably a shade over 2 quid.
We've got an additional off-peak supply which runs at something like 5c/ kwh, but I think I'd have to hard-wire the heater into that to keep the 'leccy company happy - they don't like 'pluggable' stuff on it because it screws with their demand predictions too much.

My first car was a Singer Gazelle. This was in the 70's. It was like a Hillman Hunter only posher. Took it to a car wash the day I bought it and then drove up a steep hill. About two gallons of water poured out of the dash onto our laps......
The 70s Arrow-series cars were notorious for leaks. Nearly every day I'd see one of the bodyshop blokes shut in a boot while another poured the contents of a watering can around the rim.
