faile 12v lamp transformer - replacement pointers please

Ikea floor lamp with seperate black box transfomer on a (hard wired) mains lead. 12V output via a socket (one blade and a pin remminiscent of old hi-fi speaker connectors).

Label says (mostly):- IKEA AC ADAPTOR PRI 230v ~ 50HZ SEC 12v ~2917mA

Can anyone point me to where I can get an equivalent replacement please?

Would 12v 3A do? A Google search brings up lots of possible options.

They are exactly the same - a DIN connector.

Cheapest way would be a LV electronic transformer for up to 50 watts (yours is for 35w). Such as:-

If you wish to retain the DIN plug, Maplin etc should sell them.

well yes I guess so - that's the easy bit :>) Given that this transformer is *always* plugged into mains power (even when the lamp is "off" - via seperate switch on lamp) I was hoping that the gurus on here could guide me to one appropriate/man enough for the job.

BTW I don't mind fiddling/changing the connectors on the 12v side.

Thanks JimK

would this do the job for me?

if applicable it appeals as it's "submersible" so should cope with the rough and tumble of life on the floor next to the dog's basket (and associated incidents)? plus there's a screwfux (booo etc) nearby.....

thanks again JimK

I know this is a really old thread, but I've got a genuine IKEA adapter plug - 3 pin, for UK plugs going begging here if needed....
