Now, 6 years on, the gravity flaps are snapping at the pivots.

We have one of those. Never been turned on in the last 10 years. Do the writers of building regs think that we still use wash boilers?

Can you attach some more robust pivots? Piano wire, nails, bolts, ... perhaps ...
Ha! Likewise. Pretty noisy in actual use.
Probably. The actual pivot pin is about 2mm square section plastic so not exactly robust.
I have the same problem with a Manrose 4" bathroom extract fitted to a dormer. Not something I want to repeat visit!
These things are £5.0 or so from Toolstation etc. I hoped for a pointer to something up market. Wind induced clatter can be a nuisance as well.
A thin strip of rubber or foam glued along the bottom edge can help reduce the noise to almost nothing, and have a minimal effect on the "seal" when closed.
Be good if some manufacturer had the wit to do this before marketing the things! Still got the weak pivot issue.>
