Ebay prchase and my delivery address

I have just 'won' an item in an Ebay auction and paid for it. Rather than what I am used to, paying for the item via Paypal, Ebay charged me directly via my credit card.

Because of this, I do not have the sellers email address and he doesn't have mine - the only means of communication is via Ebay messaging. From past experience Ebay messaging will block any attempt for buyer and seller to pass their email addresses through their messaging system. Will the seller have my postal address, or not?

IME a seller normally get the address when the sale is confirmed.

Yes, when the item sells there's a screen with your postal address, buttons for a receipt and the address label that can be printed, and options to buy postage from various suppliers (Royal Mail, couriers, etc). It's all very streamlined.

If they're a bigger outfit with a pro seller account I expect they have more options in terms of bulk shipping, eg connections with accounts at their couriers, etc.

The buyer does have your email address and phone number, as it sometimes shows up on the delivery note paperwork (and may go to couriers for delivery updates). But the messaging platform is fine to contact the seller and keeps a record of conversations in case of dispute - better to use it than try and circumvent it.

What about phone number? I've needed a phone number a few times when collecting Ebay purchases - for difficult to find properties or people that can't hear the doorbell, as they're gardening at the back.

Theo expressed precisely :

It's a first time seller, who specified collection only, whom agreed to post pre-sale.

I'm fairly sure that i've struggled in the past to exchange details, as Harry suggests is the case, but then it has become possible after the sale.

messaging system.

ebay only want to control that's why...should let you pass email and phone numbers though because you have paid....

It's pretty trivial to get an E-Mail address through the eBay filters. Just say "the domain is: aaa.bbb.ccc" and "my 'name' is: fred999". (I'm pretty sure this will work, if not try writing it longhand with 'dot' and 'at' between the bits.

I thought I heard eBay was cutting ties with PayPal and introducing its own payments system. .

I didn't notice any options.

Have you never used Paypal? The seller gets an email telling him he has been paid. And with the address you provided.

You can also contact the seller via PayPal.

Not sure about all, but the seller email address that is used for PayPal often appears on the email you get from PayPal confirming your payment.

IIRC, the Ebay not allowing email addresses in PMs only applies when contacting the seller before buying. To prevent trying to get round seller fees.

Or save it as a jpg and attach it as a picture.

Not when Ebay is putting some sales through its own system and not offering Paypal for those sales - which is the point the OP made.

eBay cut ownership ties with PayPal several years ago, and introduced its own payments system about a year ago. The seller now gets paid, direct to his/her bank account, the day after payment has been made. I received £1.44 yesterday.

Yep, they blocked/deleted my attempt to munge my email address to pass to the seller until after the sale, then allowed it without a problem.
