If only those who claim to plonk someone really did refrain from commenting on those posts in the future, when they see them quoted. But very few can.

If you don't announce it, the offender may never improve their behaviour. Announcing it also tips others off that there may be something not quite right about the plonkee's behaviour and they can save themselves much wasted time and effort by following suit.

Proper conduit would be fairly hard to drill through. Not so sure about the thin top hat stuff once used - if drilling with a universal bit.
