Dymo labler.

Have a Dymo LM PNP label maker. Went to use it the other day, and the full software Dymo Label V8 shows it as offline.

It is showing as normal in printers.

It works from the 'lite' software version it contains internally, but this is a bit basic for what I want.

I've tried re-loading the main software and driver. No difference.

I'm using Win7 and have had a couple of upgrades since it was last used.

I don't remember ever having this problem with the old 'squeeze to emboss' Dymo labelers.

And if anything ever looked cheap and nasty, it was the labels they made.

But, at th time, what ws the alternative? A parper sticky label with handwriting. Dymo looked a lot tidier.

I even looked after a piece of equipment where the serial number - in Dymotape - was P001.

Letraset?

Much nicer but far slower, delicate, and needed a clean uniform background. And once applied didn't survive real world handling of goods. Dymo was all there was for many jobs where it needed to look formal.

Imagine going back to the 70s now!

We use the Brother hand held label maker. IME the Brother, very expensive tape, is indestructible. The labels stay on if run through the dishwasher, can be easily removed and will stick perfectly to the next plastic lid you use them on, I found the Dymo tape to have quite poor sticking qualities in comparison.

I think we were discussing the old-hat embossing tape, not the modern heat transfer printing tape ... the nylon Dymo tape sticks much better than the standard stuff.
