Drain/Manhole Cover

Nov 30, 2008 3 Replies

Hi, i currently have a manhole cover on my driveway which measures

660x510mm, about 20mm thick and is cast iron. Unfortunately it is cracked and in the near future we are getting a 2nd car that would have to go over it in order to park on the driveway. Can i find a replacement? No. I do not want to go to the expense and hassle of replacing the frame for a smaller one as this would mess up the driveway and cause all sorts of problems. Does anyone know where i can find a replacement? It does not have to be cast Iron but must be able to take the weight of around 2 tonnes.

Thanks for your input.

unless you change the frame I fear you are going to be out of luck. You may get someone like a specialist company to make you one to size that fits in the frame, but it's likely to cost a couple of times as much as a new cover and frame
