Door Jamb

Just about to screw a six foot length of 3 by 2 over the door jamb (back door) where some scroats jemmied it and kicked it in prior to doing us over Tuesday evening.

Luckily it doesn't have to look good as all that is being rebuilt in a month or two.

Sympathies.

Fwiw my self installed Richmond pattern hardwood door survived the jemmy an d the feet attacks, due I think to the extra rack bolts I fitted top and bo ttom. They then jemmied the window next to it & got in the bastards, but go t nicked 24 hrs later thanks to my then covert cameras...:-) :-)

Used a load of 6 x 90 self-tappers to screw the wood to the jamb. Replaced the screws in the door lock too, they were rusty and only about an inch long.

We have in fact got rack bolts top & bottom on that door but had just got lazy about using them. Also rack bolts on the next inward door. Course they could just destroy the door and step though but it's prolly all about slowing them down.
