You have a sump full of oil in a car and the drop on the end of the dip stick is usually enough to lubricate anything automotive.

And new engine oil when it needs to be clean. And mineral or baby oil. And vegetable oils for when you want it to polymerise later, eg with screws.

WD40 is only white spirit with a tiny amount of oil, plus a silly price. Gaffer tape doesn't stick as well as duct tape. And IME parcel tape is fine in many situations, and gets used more often.
