For some reason we are suddenly inundated with houseflies. I have been swatting them as fast as I can, but they are staying ahead of me. Is there some easy way to get rid of them?
Houseflies have been a pest for years, but only one or two at a time. This time they are swarming, mostly around the windows on the front of the house.

Well, we seem to be getting a handle on the problem, using an old fashioned fly swatter. It takes a while, because those flies are fast and hard to hit, but if we keep on we should take care of the problem one of these days.

I'd let loose some bug spray and they go sit outside for a time while it does its job.
That's an easy one to resolve. Just finish eating the meat and both flies and meat will be gone.
Sort out the cause of the initial attraction. Bins nearby?
Then open a window and close the door to the room. They'll leave of their own accord, attracted by the light.

We rented a house once with washer and drier in basement. Drier was vented to ground level and a rabbit got in and died. We had called a repairman when drier stopped working and it took him a few days. He removed the dead rabbit full of maggots.
