Woman spots breast cancer while playing with thermal camera at Scots tourist spot

A woman discovered she has breast cancer after spotting an unusual heat coming from her chest on a thermal imaging camera at an Edinburgh tourist attraction.

Bal Gill was at Camera Obscura & World of Illusions in May with her family and took a photo of the thermal image having noticed a red heat patch radiating from her left breast.

Thinking the uneven heat was "odd" compared to other people, the 41-year-old carried out an internet search on thermal imaging cameras and found out they can be used by oncologists to help diagnose cancers.

Yes, saw that.

I can recommend that Camera Obscura; been several times. The exhibitions on the way up and down (interactive as in the above) are good fun. It doesn't say above (but it does in the link), but it's at the top of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

Less well known is the Camera Obscura (not much else, but a lovely building) in Portslade, near Brighton. But phone first as it's run by volunteers.

Thanks for the recommendation Bob, I live fairly local to that and have thought of visiting more than once...

I grew up in Brighton but it wasn't there then. I visit quite a bit, and one of my former student has a large shop in {Boundary,Station} Road. So I popped into the Foredown Tower. Dead lucky because they'd just started a presentation and were willing to start it again!

I can see apple working right now on their face recognition camera to allow it to diagnose cancer in a new app. Brian
