No I'm not an expert but I did try to see if I could take the dimmer apart but it's a sealed unit, if yuo want to prove you can replace a triac in a modern dimmer go for it just cut one open show me the triac and where to buy it, simple isn't it.

Others open an eBay dispute in an effort to either get a refund or a replacement.

None of mine are sealed units. Perhaps you need to buy more carefully. But if you don't know where to buy such things as triacs, you really shouldn't be even thinking of repairing such things.
Maybe I should try that with my history pieces.

I see you still haven't got it. The idea of opening a dispute is to get a reply from the vendor - which the OP said he couldn't.
How many times you you have to be told something before if finally sinks in?
It's merely a question of where to look:
Just 509 different ones there, I'm sure there are more from other suppliers.
How many different ones do you need?
I have repaired dimmers, but as Dave has said, the triacs don't fail so often.
If we took away the whiskey Dave might make sense.
My whole 4 double bedroom 3 storey house is less than 200W with every light on (about 3 per room).
And here each light has a switch - for optimal deployment :-)
Er no. The idea of opening a dispute, is "normally" to either get a refund or a replacemet.
However in "your" case, which can be called for sake of example The "P Option", your intention is to simply to get a reply from the vendor.
Given that I've been explaining to you for a number of days now why the "P Option" is so badly flawed - in getting a reply all you'll get is any load of old nonsense - it appears its you yourself who has the comprehension problem.
The seller has a feedback rating of 97%.
Item never arrived and poor communication from seller
No delivery. Delays on refund. Waste of time
Item haven't arrived till now. Horrible customer service. No reply to any query
*Quite how anyone who claims to know anything about eBay, as you do, would consider it anything other than a complete waste of time, to try and get a sensible answer out of such seller is totally beyond me.
To be honest at first , I credited you with more sense, and so assumed, wrongly at first I must admit, that you'd overlooked the fact that the OP had repaired the lamp himself. But no I was wrong you realy did intend option P all along.
So that not only are you truly naive in imagining that you could get a satisfactory answer out of a seller with a feedback rating of 97%, but now you're feigning naevity in pretending not to realise that this is what I've been explaining to you for the last three or four days.
Although there again I suppose, forking out ?8.50 on anything, even including P&P can be a big committment for some people. And so they'll be demanding their pound of flesh as a matter of principle. Even if it is a pound of lies.

They weren't in the 70s.
OK where do you suggest I buy dimmers.
I do I probbely buy more than you.
brought 5 of 2N6075AG a couple of months ago. I have about 4 differnt triacs in stock and a few opto isolator triacs.
No one should really but then again you'd know that if you had any idea about dimmers, it's just not worth it even if you could.
It takes one to know one.
No it is NOT it isn't to arrange a party, or a piss up or a sex session or give you a stiffy or anything else is to get your money back or faulty goods replaced.
I'm happy to pay for the lighting I want. Until low energy types actually come up to the same quality of light. Which may be never.
But each to their own. ;-)
You do like to define things by your own rules, don't you?
Opening a dispute is likely to get the seller's attention. And a reply from him on the matter - which failed before.
And given the OP complained about not getting a reply, perhaps you'd ask him if it matters. Rather than trolling me.
I'd just bought a new expensive one from TLC. Same construction as I'm used to - a clip together casing.
Then why ask about buying them?
Which one, and what differnce does it make whther it's expensive or cheap. Why would I need a clip together casing ?
I asked about buying triacs for sealed units.
He's on something isn't he
Yep I reconged he's been recycling dimmers into lasagne or something
I've no idea what you need. Have you?
Which is why you gave the wrong advice and still don;t have a clue oir is it that yuo are just pig headed and stuborn, I remmeber saying that the dimmer blew due to using it with LEDs lights.
Yes but I don't know why my dimmers need clip together casing, do you know why yuor dimmers need it, is it because you have to replace triacs on a regualar basis ?
Keep trying to tell you. Buy quality. A decent dimmer won't be worried by LEDS. But of course may not dim them. You need 'special' LEDs for that. I'd guess you used the same Sunday market for the LEDS you use for dimmers.
Would you care to try that again in English?
