Cistern Inlet pipe leak

Hello,

I have replaced cisten and have minor leak at inlet pipe. It is at the nut next below the actual cistern nut, .i.e. the next nut after the one on the cistern itself.

I am thinking new washer - does anyone have any thoughts. Particularly any that avoid me disconnecting the cistern again.

Thanks.

Slacken off the nut(s) and wind string around the pipe between the washer and the cistern. Then tighten up the nut. Or maybe there is something better to use than string?

Try nipping it up a bit more but a new fibre washer should have been used.

To replace the washer you are going to have to discconect the supply.

I assume the first nut is the one holding the valve to the cistern body and the second you are referring to is the nut that holds the pipe connector to the valve thread?

If so and if tightening does not solve the problem the only option is to disconnect and use a new fibre washer.

If it's a plastic thread on the fill valve & a metal thread on the connector, it sounds like the OP has cross threaded it. New fill valve if that's the case.

Fibre washers often don't reseal after having been disturbed, IME.
