Celotex

I bought a couple of sheets of 50mm Celotex to cut up and fix to loft hatches to insulate 'em. These were the 1200x450 sheets labelled for cavity wall use as they were a decent size to get into the car.

Now, I want to seal up the edges so they don't degrade over time as I use the hatches. Would Duck tape be OK for that? I don't want to use something where the sticky will react with the material.

Also - these sheets are faced with foil or whatever - can I use white wood glue to fix them to the plywood hatches?

Thanks,

Tape would be fine. PIR foam is not that reactive anyway.

Not sure how well that would stick to the foil. I would go with some impact adhesive or a few dabs of expanding foam.

I'd be tempted to use silicone sealant. Not exctly a glue, but it seems to be strong enough to stick my skirting boards.

I insulated my loft hatch with some left over marmox board. I haven't wrapped it, and it seems fine.

yeah that will work. Any rubbery s**te will do. Hot glue, UHU, evostik, sticks Like Shit, No More Nails etc etc.

Thanks - and an excuse to get a hot-glue gun, perhaps :-)

I even use left over flat roof sealant.

I draw the line at that pink stuff though. If you ask me, it's a bit , well, pink.

Could be its a lifestyle statement?

I'm surprised - when I was doing the bathroom, cut edges of it leaked grey cement powder everywhere, and eventually ended up as just the fibreglass mesh.

PVA sticks very well to al foil. White wood glue is PVA.

I don't like my glue to clash with my shirt!

I used sticky foil tape for my edges and Glue Screws. Worked fine. I'm sure duct tape and anything sticky would be ok.

won't stick.

I foamed mine in along rafters, using a foam gun like a stitcher ... press in and quick squirt every 100mm

Didn't have to stick face on to anything, but if I had to do it, a cartridge of high modulus, neutral-cure silicone would be a better bet. ... B&Q sell several makes .. looks under frame sealant.
