Was talking about catalytic converters the other day following another theft and someone commented about the rotten egg smell you sometime got from cars and someone would say - it is because the car has a catalytic converter.
Never smell it now - what changed?
Sulphur content of fuel?

That would be my guess too. I'm a bit out of touch but iirc the levels in both petrol and diesel have fallen very significantly.
Low sulphur petrol and diesel
8p a litre less duty on low sulphur fuel.
I smell it a lot just after a car has been started up. Have you got a cold? Brian
The other thing they produce is ammonia. You certainly still smell that.
