Cables and expanding (ureathane) foam

Hi, Is expanding foam safe to use in contact with PVC sheathed cables?

Thanks

I'd err on the side of caution.

PVC cable in contact with polystyrene tends to melt the polystyrene. I imagine it would do the same with expanding foam.

Perhaps worth calling/emailing the manufaturer of the foam and asking them?

You may have the issue that it will insulate the cables, and reduce their current carrying capacity. The expanding foam has quite a good U value.

Compared to the problem with PVC plasticisers damaging polystyrene foam, yes.

Yup... at least there is no leaching plasticizer pproblem. However you may need to apply derating to the cables current capacity if any length of it is buried in the insulation.
