Apologies if this is a really stupid question, but is it ok to plug in my tower fridge freezer and then place it infront of the socket. ie. if I need to turn off the fridge/freezer at the socket I would need to move the fridge about 1 foot to the right.

Yes. There is no emergency switching requirement for a fridge freezer. It just must remain accessible for maintenance. This means you can't build it into the proposed location, as you can't move it out of the way.

The combi boiler is next to the fridge and is plugged into a switchless socket, is it ok to obstruct this with the fridge/freezer as well?

I would think so, provided the fridge freezer is easily moved. As a precaution, familiarise yourself with your consumer unit and how to disable those circuits without cutting the lights. Although you might not be required to have emergency switching, this is of no comfort when the boiler is pouring smoke.
