Which would only go to confirm our prejudices about a so-numbered house.

I have been addressed in that way, but in England by (AFAIR) someone who is English.

This was a Victorian terraced street. An extra house had been built at one end, which explains one of the extra no ones but not the other.

No it was a street of Victorian terraced houses with no holes in the middle.

If Adrian is your surname that would be the correct way to address you in some circumstances.

If I was called Mr Adam I would be looking for a Roger Hargreaves book.

I blame dropping education standards, I think you might be familiar with the problem.
